E-Design for 2014

I have been waiting on this post and maybe it's getting up at 4 am this morning or the fact that I've consumed 3 coffees and about 5 chocolates that I want to send it out now! I have some new pics of two condos to share in the New Year and I'm so flipping excited to be working with an amazing designer and shop owner on a new look for Karla Dreyer Design. As I said in yesterday's post, I'm wanting to make this blog on what inspires me for 2014 and share that.

The past year I have been working on In House Design services which I love. In this service I give the client a Design Board to show them how the room will look and feel. For 2014, I am going to be doing E-Design. This is where you send me photos of your space, we discuss your needs and I provide you with a customized design plan and links to where to get all the items so you can start building your room!

Here are some examples of Design Boards. Excited for this new part of my biz. Happy Holidays!

Inspired

This word keeps popping up for me. When thinking of how I want to feel at home, work, relationships the word inspired comes to mind. I search it out. I feel on a bit of a quest to surround myself with things, experiences and people that make me feel, yes...inspired.

I am going to try and focus this blog for 2014 on what I find interesting and I hope through that it will give you a little inspiration too.

So first up, here's what is inspiring me on the home front. Back in September, the amazing Kelly Deck, spoke at the IDS West show and explained how she started a sort of vision board of how she wanted her home to feel. This wasn't a picture of a certain kitchen or light fixture but a feeling. I was very inspired by this and started "pinning" my own vision board. I have tried not to think too much about it and what's interesting is a really notice a pattern. I am drawn to a neutral palette, texture, simplicity. And I notice myself removing things from my home and replacing with this feel more.

Here is my vision board. I hope you Enjoy...

World Reclaimed - Check out this fantastic new shop!

Terrific people doing great work. This is what motivates me in life. Being in business for self there are times when you feel super duper (yes, I used that term) motivated and other times when you need a good kick in the pants. That kick in the pants is when I see other BFS (biz for selfers) doing their 'thang!'

Yesterday, I received a newsletter from Aloe Designs (if you need landscaping design these are your peeps!) They have started a new venture called World Reclaimed - a line of home and garden goods.

This new online shop was born out of this husband and wife team who love working with their hands and making beautiful things. It's modern design and old world simplicity. How perfect!

Here is a peek of the items they are offering. Great Christmas and hostess gift idea. They are also having a pop up shop sale on December 5th from 6-9 at their studio. I can't wait to go!

I love when I see people authentically fulfilling their vision and dreams. It inspires me.

Enjoy....

Holiday Inspiration...Oh yes, I do mean Christmas!

I know, I know. It's only November 12, but I'm feeling the holiday spirit a bit early this year. Not sure if it's the age of my girls, or excited to be in our new home for Christmas but whatever it is we have already watched The Grinch about 5 times and hubby and I indulged in our favourite holiday classic -  the movie Love Actually.

My 5 year old is busy each day making Advent calendars for her and her sister (amazing what $13 will buy at the dollar/craft store) and as I'm writing this blog I have my Fraser Fir candle from Indigo going. Speaking of Indigo - that store is flipping amazing. Beautiful things right now. Anyway...this far too early Christmas spirit thing has me "pinning" a few inspiration ideas.

I'm going a bit more Arts & Crafts this year than normal. Tis the season...Enjoy!

Whistler Before & After

Here is my disclaimer again: these photos are fuzzy and taken on my phone. But...in my attempt to share more of the projects I'm working on I'm going to share anyway and once the pretty pics are done I will post again.

This condo was pretty darn dated. Hello 1990's. It has lots of natural light and potential but definitely needed a little sprucing up to the current decade. With just doing a few minor construction changes and furnishing it's looking like a whole new space.

The idea was to make it cozy, layered, warm. The kind of place you want to curl up after a day on the slopes. It's still a work in progress, but progress we are making! Here are a few before and after shots. Enjoy...

A New Office Space...this one makes me jealous!

I worked on an office space earlier this year that I absolutely adore! Yes, I'm just posting the before and afters now, but aren't you proud of me for actually doing it?!

This was a dream client. She had great taste and really trusted my suggestions in creating a room for her. She was looking for something that was functional yet very, very, did I say very, pretty. It was a chance to be feminine, whimsical and oh yes...pretty much all white!

We are still looking for a new reading chair. Tossed around a little Restoration Hardware action so will see where that ends up.

One of my favourite things when looking at the before and afters of this space is how much paint and decorating can do. We didn't need to do any expensive built ins or construction to make a space that functions and feels amazing.

Enjoy...
